2013 Ben Roethlisberger Football Camp1028 viewsPasses come fast and furious, and so do catches, at Ben Roethlisberger’s Football Camp. Among the campers are Andrew Ziegler and his brother, Steven, courtesy of their father, Navy Commander Mark Ziegler.
“My husband is currently stationed in Afghanistan,†says his wife, Dena. “And he gave the kids the gift of Ben’s camp for something to look forward to while he was away. And today is Steven’s 12th birthday.â€
Dena Ziegler shared her sons’ stories on the Steeler quarterback’s website.
“So I ended up reading that,†Roethlisberger says. “So I called them out today, and today happens to be his brother’s birthday as well. So we sent them both deep, and I had his mom come down so she good get good footage and send it to their dad in Afghanistan. So it all worked out really great.â€

September 18, 2015 - The 10th Annual Jerome Bettis "Bus Stops Here" Foundation Gala657 views From Teresa Varley at Steelers.com:
As he was thanking his teammates during his Pro Football Hall of Fame speech, Jerome Bettis called out Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
“Brother, without you saving that tackle, I still might be on the doorsteps, brother,†said Bettis, referring to a touchdown saving tackle Roethlisberger made after Bettis fumbled against the Indianapolis Colts in the playoffs during the Super Bowl XL season. “I owe you for life.â€
And on Friday night, Bettis once again called out Roethlisberger, but this time for something different. This time for the work Roethlisberger does in the community.
Bettis honored his former quarterback by presenting Roethlisberger with the 2015 Humanitarian of the Year Award at the Caring for Kids Dinner benefitting Bettis’ “Bus Stops Here†Foundation at the Fairmont Pittsburgh.

February 25, 2011 - Posing with Jim Kelly1170 viewsWarm smiles on a chilly day - Ben and Jim Kelly in Buffalo, NY after dining at "Pete's Place".
Funny story from the Buffalo News (March 5th edition):
"Big Ben in Little Valley"
Deputy Cattaraugus County Clerk Alan Bernstein had a brush with fame last week.
After opening his work area in the county center last Friday, Bernstein walked to the Department of Motor Vehicles office to get coffee. With a greeting to the clerks and some customers, he did a double-take at a very tall man at the counter.
“You look just like Ben Roethlisberger,†a clerk said to the man, referring to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback.
The man pushed his paperwork forward to register two snowmobiles, and the name on the form confirmed his identity.
“Roethlisberger just kept smiling at me,†Bernstein said. “They said I squealed with delight, like a kid on Christmas. I’ve been a Steelers fan since I was a kid.â€
The quarterback, who was spending time at the Ellicottville home of former Bills’ QB Jim Kelly and was seen leaving the center in a vehicle driven by Kelly, signed autographs and was very pleasant, Bernstein said.

September 18, 2015 - The 10th Annual Jerome Bettis "Bus Stops Here" Foundation Gala681 views“It is great to see him involved in his charity and doing great things in the community. The one thing I wanted to instill in all of those guys when I was there was it was about the community. They do so much for us that it was important and imperative that we do things and give back to the community.†– Jerome
“To me Jerome is a hero, a guy I tried to idolize on the football field, in the community. To be honored by him means a lot to me. It means a lot to me to be so involved in the community. Doing the grants for the dogs, giving over a million dollars to police, fire, search and rescue is something that is important to me. And the Make-a-Wish visits every game are so special. Then we get the letters talking about the wishes we provide through grants and it means a lot and is special in your heart.†– Ben
